At Eximious Furniture, we are committed to minimising and reducing our effect on the environment. Our manufacturing is planned to avoid unnecessary nuisance, to our neighbours and customers, and disruption of natural and wildlife habitats. We have implemented and operate an Environmental Management System which is ISO 14001 certified. Resource ManagementIn recognition of the fact that the earth's resources are finite, every step will be considered to minimise waste through planned and efficient purchasing and recycling of waste. WasteAll wood waste (including sawdust and shavings, which are made into briquettes) is burned to produce heat for our factory, minimising the amount of waste that we send to landfill. MaterialsWe only purchase timber from 'managed' or sustainable producers who comply with Forests Forever; FSC or PEFC standards. Where possible "environmentally friendly" materials are proposed for use in our furniture. VehiclesThe company owned vehicles are diesel powered, as this has been considered to be more energy efficient than equivalent petrol driven vehicles, resulting in less fuel consumed by our fleet. Office MaterialsAll staff are encouraged to take sensible measures to use products such as stationery produced from recycled materials. Waste paper is kept to a minimum, and all paper and cardboard used in our offices and factory is briquetted and used as fuel to heat our factory.
